Cast Iron Skillet Loaded Fries

Cast Iron Skillet Loaded Fries

Ingredients

1 package of your favorite frozen fries ( our favorite is McCain beer battered fries – and no, I did not get paid for writing this 😊)

½ jar of ragu double cheddar sauce, heated up ( just like the fries, I did NOT get paid to write this – it really works well with this recipe 😊)

8 slices bacon, cooked and chopped

sour cream ( as little or as much as you like)

2 green onions (sliced) or a handful of chives (chopped)

Directions

For this particular way of preparing the fries you will need a cast Iron skillet with deep sides. Add about 1 ½ inches of peanut oil to the skillet and heat over medium heat until the oil reaches a temperature of 350 ° F. Once the oil has reached the desired temperature gently add the potatoes to the hot oil. DO NOT add them all at once. Be careful as the oil might splatter. Slowly add a few fries at a time. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan. The fries should not be touching each other. You should make the fries in a couple of batches and not all at once. Fry the fries according to package directions. Mine usually take 3 -4 minutes per batch or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon or a spider to remove the fries from the oil. Drain on paper towels.

To assemble place the cooked fries in a clean cast iron skillet or on a plate, drizzle with the warm cheddar sauce, top with bacon and add some sour cream as well as some green onions or chives for decoration.
